Help at Home & Finances

Support for your family's everyday needs

Food assistance, nutrition for young children, help paying for childcare, and a friendly home visitor for new parents — these programs exist to lighten the load, and applying is free.

SNAP — help with groceries

SNAP gives your family a Hoosier Works card that works like a debit card at the grocery store. Apply online through the state benefits portal, or get help in person from the Scott County Division of Family Resources.

Section 2 of 4

WIC — healthy food for little ones

WIC supports pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women and children under 5 with supplemental healthy foods, nutrition counseling, and breastfeeding help — right here in Scottsburg.

Section 3 of 4

Help paying for childcare

Childcare is one of the biggest costs families face. CCDF vouchers help income-eligible families pay for care at an eligible provider, and On My Way Pre-K offers free pre-K for 4-year-olds. Scott County families apply locally through River Valley Resources in Madison.

Healthy Families — support at your door

Expecting a baby or a new parent? Healthy Families is a free, voluntary home-visiting program. A trained Family Support Specialist visits your home with parenting tips, developmental screenings, and a helping hand as you set goals for your family.

Not sure where to start? That's okay.
